Chester: Free Festive Events + Groups and Support for the over 50's!

In the run up to Christmas, there are an array of free events and support available to residents who may need it. Read below to find out more!



1. Christmas Eve Lunch with Soul Kitchen

The Soul Kitchen will be hosting a Christmas Lunch on the 24th of December and delivering Christmas packs to those in hotels on the 24th/25th.




2. Christmas Day with Chester Pride

Chester Pride are holding a christmas day lunch and also their Somewhere over the Rainbow board at The Rainbow Tea Rooms by Chester Pride is a great way to pay it forward and give someone in need a little treat. They currently have a full board of over £130 worth of treats, available to ANYONE. All you have to do is pop in and take a card or ask a member of our staff to see the somewhere over the Rainbow board, they will respectfully take your order and find a card for you to enjoy a treat from someone else.




3. Warming Wednesdays Lache Community Centre

There are warming Wednesdays at the community centre in the Lache every Wednesday at 11am. Its great to drop in for a warm meal and a natter and there's no cost.




4. 55 & Over Club at Hoole Community Centre

The senior’s club runs every Wednesday morning from 10am to 1pm. For a contribution of £3.50 they will provide a cuppa followed by a talk or activity from our varied programme. Then next is a 2-course meal which is freshly cooked by the volunteers, led by the cafe manager, Sam. Sophie, Alan, Julia and more volunteers are ‘front of house’ to warmly welcome you and will look after you to ensure you settle in with the friendly group. They can even provide transport if the individual is having difficulty getting there.



The Silver Line Helpline is a free, confidential telephone service just for older people. They provide friendship, conversation and support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We need connection whatever our age – especially if we live alone or further away from family. The Silver Line Helpline gives anyone aged 55 or over the opportunity to exchange a friendly word, access support, or enjoy a long enriching conversation. Call 0800 470 8090.
