Supporting children to have a healthy relationship.

SHINE

Our SHINE programme (Self-esteem, Health, Independence, Nutrition, Exercise) runs as a 5 week after school club for selected children or families or alternatively, can be delivered in curriculum time as a class-based intervention. Each week is a different theme and involves art, crafts, cookery and physical activity. The programme supports positive behaviours and self-confidence, embedded in a general healthy lifestyles approach.

The programme can be adapted for all age groups and encourages children to recognise their own skills and interests, learn more about making healthy choices and understanding emotions. Our family sessions help support ideas for family routines (including encouraging age related responsibilities and independence, creative and outdoor play, health challenges and one-to-one time with each child). We include a practical cookery session and encourage the completion of activities as a family throughout the week in time for the next session.
