Falls Prevention
Falls not only induce injury in older people, but can have a detrimental impact on the person’s confidence and independence, increasing isolation and impacting on both physical and mental health. Our evidence based programme reduces falls risk, improves physiological and psychological health and encourages independent living.
Strength & Balance
Our Strength & Balance offering is a 12 week evidence-based exercise Intervention programme specifically designed to reduce the risk of falls in older adults. Falls become increasingly more frequent in adults over 65, with 1 in 3 expected to have a fall at least once a year. Experiencing a fall can have debilitating consequences on both the physical and mental wellbeing of older adults, including higher risk of injury, lack of confidence and loss of independence.
Our goal is to reduce the incidence of falls by coaching participants through a range of strength, mobility and coordination-based movements, which aim to improve muscular strength, stability and overall mobility.
Alongside the exercise delivery, we support our participants with educational talks covering a range of different wellbeing topics that offer additional advice for preventing falls and maintaining quality of life in older adults.
Within our programme we take a look at:
HYDRATION
SLEEP QUALITY
REDUCING RISK OF FALLS IN THE HOME
BACKWARD CHAINING
We hold weekly 60 minute sessions (locally around Cheshire) which consist of functional based exercises and educational talks. Our programme runs for 12 weeks.
To improve the quality of general activities of daily living, we encourage our participants to continue the exercises they learn during our classes in the comfort of their own home. Each attendee will receive an informational tea towel to support their journey.
