Staying Safe: Drugs & Alcohol Awareness

An introduction to staying safe around drugs and medicines at home and surrounding environments.

Aimed to be delivered at an age appropriate manner with an emphasis on making healthy and safe choices. Our workshops based on this topic can be adapted across Key Stages 1&2.

During these sessions we explore different types of substances that can be found around the home which can have harmful circumstances as well as making pupils aware of the effects of Smoking, Drugs and Alcohol on our bodies. These sessions can be adapted to be bespoke for the needs of the specific group in order to achieve the desired outcomes of the school.

KS2 Class Teacher
Our school outcomes are:

Raise awareness of dangers and risks of smoking.

Introduce concept of personal choice and reducing risk taking behaviour.

Upper KS2 can be split across 2 workshops looking in depth at the differences between drugs, medicines and moving on to lifestyle choices including smoking, and alcohol consumption.

Raise awareness of dangers and risks of drinking alcohol.

In KS1 we deliver an activity, based workshop looking at staying safe in the home.

Sessions include warning labels on household products and spotting instructions for safe use.

Highlight legal and medical reasons for not drinking under 18 years.

For lower KS2 we start to explore the differences between drugs & medicines and learn the golden rules around household products.

Older children can use interactive learning tools such as chemical soup and drunk and dangerous goggles.
