Port Pedalers Cycling Group #ActiveTravel
Bring your bike and join our free leader-led rides which are an easy way to get active and meet new people. Every Friday 10am - 12pm We go at a gentle pace, suitable for anyone who is not seriously unfit. Rides are about 2 hours long, including a coffee stop. Shortcuts will be available, if you prefer a shorter ride. We will ride on quieter roads and alongside the canal, a perfect place to boost your mood and improve your physical and mental health. Points to note: • Ages 18 and over only. • We can only take people on the ride who have booked a place. • Please only book onto the dates you know you can attend. If you book and then can’t come, please cancel your place by emailing jeorgia@healthboxcic.com. This frees up the place for another person. • The first meet will involve a free assessment of your bike as well as a short ride. • The canal side paths are (unfortunately) not suitable for non-traditional cycles e.g. tricycles. • Bookings close 24 hours before the ride starts. • No dogs please • To help with parking, arrive no more than 15 minutes before your booked time. • Rides may be cancelled at short notice due to weather conditions, please keep an eye on your emails. • We try to include a coffee stop at a café, and we will identify toilet stops along the route. Each ride lasts up to 2 hours. There is a café and toilets available at the start point. Equipment You will need your own bike that should be in reasonable condition (working brakes etc). Please wear suitable clothing (no loose fitting items). Helmets are required on all our rides. Funded by Cheshire West & Chester Council and UK Government. Hear their personal stories and testimonials from the patients they've helped, as they seek to dispel the myths surrounding social prescribing among their fellow students. Tune in as they highlight how broadening our perspective to include social prescribing can not only revolutionise healthcare but also weave it intricately with the fabric of our communities and breaking free from the traditional confines of medicine.

Shop Local
With the support of Steve Morgan Foundation & Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, we have visited 5 local Chester businesses and asked them why shopping local is so important to them? There are so many reasons why shopping local is the best way to shop, businesses like these really are at the heart of our community. We would like to say thank you to all the stores who have helped to be part of our shop local campaign: Just Footprints Chester , Francis Thomas Groceries, Naughty badger coffee house and bistro, Vivo Care Choices & Purely Pots! Over the next week, we'll be running a feature on each of these fantastic local independent businesses!
