I’m an Adult Counsellor at Healthbox CIC, where I bring a blend of psychodynamic, CBT, and person-centered approaches to my work. In my previous role, I coordinated an adult counselling service through a Primary Care Network, overseeing everything from client assessments to mentoring student counsellors. With a strong foundation in trauma-informed care, I’m passionate about helping others grow in both their personal and professional lives.

I am an Integrative Counsellor who draws on Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, and CBT approaches in my practice. In my Supervision work, I believe in a flexible and personalized approach, recognizing that no single model fits everyone. I blend various Supervision models to tailor the experience to your specific needs. My aim is to offer a supportive and reflective space where counsellors can enhance their skills and grow in their practice.

I work as an Integrative Counsellor using Person-centred theory, psychodynamic theory and CBT.  In my Supervision work I don't believe there is a 'one size fits all'.  I work by using a combination of the Supervision models to meet your individual needs. I provide a supportive and reflective learning environment to enable counsellors to develop their experience and practice. I've worked with trainee counsellors and supported their development whilst on placement.

I have been practicing as a Person Centred counsellor for a couple of years. At Healthbox I work as a Mental Health Link Worker. I triage clients, mentor trainee counsellors, deliver LGBTQIA+ workshops and have my own counselling clients. I use Hawkins and Shohet's '7 Eyed Model' for delivering supervisions.

Since completing my degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy I have worked in the voluntary sector, occupational health and in higher education providing mental health interventions for clients and wellbeing support individually and for groups. My role is to manage the adult counselling services, I oversee the support for our Counselling Coordinators who are responsible for the day to day management of each service area and I work closely with our referrers to ensure a streamlined and supportive process for our clients.

I'm Sam Horton, originally from a tiny village in SW Scotland, and I'm a person-centred counsellor. I have worked primarily with trauma services and I still volunteer as a counsellor for Chester's Rape Crisis Centre (CSASS). I started my career as a wild animal behavioural researcher, but after my diagnosis of a form of progressive spinal arthritis (Ankylosing Spondylitis) I had to change what I was doing to meet my new needs and found myself in SEN science teaching and then finally into counselling. I've joined Healthbox as a Mental Health Link Worker and I am very excited to settle in.

In my role at Healthbox, I receive referrals from the crisis line for people that are struggling to cope with their day to day lives due to their mental health and their social situation. I will link them up with services, professionals, organisations etc that should be able to help them with their mental health and overall wellbeing needs. Before this role I was a residential support worker working with children and young people in care with mental health issues. Alongside this, I studied to become a counsellor, to which I have recently completed and gained my qualification.

Steph

I am a qualified person-centered counselor with experience supporting individuals through various mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma, domestic abuse, suicidal ideation, and more. Alongside additional training in solution-focused therapy and EMDR, I became a counseling supervisor in 2024, supervising both qualified and trainee counselors, as well as wellbeing staff at Chester University.
