We are proud to be working in partnership with Liverpool City Council to deliver Mouthcare Matters training to care home staff across the city. This funded initiative is helping to raise awareness and confidence around oral health in care homes, ensuring residents receive the best possible support for their daily needs.

Why oral health matters in care homes
Oral health is a fundamental part of overall wellbeing. For many residents in care homes, maintaining routines such as toothbrushing can be challenging without support. Poor oral health can lead to pain, difficulties with eating and speaking, and even contribute to wider health issues.
Through oral health training, care staff learn how to integrate good mouthcare into daily practice. From supporting residents with toothbrushing training to understanding the impact of diet and spotting the early signs of potential problems, our sessions provide practical, evidence-based knowledge that makes a real difference.
Flexible training to support staff
The training is designed to be accessible and adaptable to the needs of busy care homes. Sessions are being delivered in person or virtually.
As training for care homes, each session contributes to professional development while also directly benefitting residents. Staff leave feeling more confident and equipped to embed oral health into daily routines, helping to prevent problems before they arise.
Partnership for positive change
This work has been made possible thanks to the funding and commitment of Liverpool City Council. Their support demonstrates a clear recognition of the importance of oral health within care settings, and ensures that this training can reach care staff across the city.
We also align our programme with national standards and best practice from the NHS, ensuring staff receive guidance that is consistent, practical, and up to date.
Mouthcare Matters Training: Looking ahead
At Healthbox CIC, we believe that when care staff feel confident and supported, residents benefit. By working closely with Liverpool City Council, we are helping to build stronger awareness of oral health and ensuring that mouthcare becomes an integral part of everyday care.
This is a positive step forward for care homes across Liverpool, and we are hopeful that this training will continue to empower staff and improve wellbeing for residents now and in the future.
