Veggie Lentil Purée

Serves - 4 portions


2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 small red onion

1/2 courgette

1/2 red pepper

1 carrot

1 can chopped tomatoes

1 garlic clove

3 tablespoons of red lentil (rinsed)

mixed herbs

100ml boiled water


  1. Heat the oil in a saucepan.
  2. Add the onion, pepper, courgette and carrot and soften for about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the rinsed lentils and can of tomatoes.
  4. Bring to boil, add the mixed herbs then allow to simmer for 20 minutes.
  5. Add the boiled water as needed if the mixture is drying out.
  6. Blend until smooth.


Tip: When baby is ready for more texture (approximately 9 or 10 months) finely dice all the ingredients instead and fork mash if necessary.
