Over the past 12 weeks The Wellbeing High Street have funded Children’s Yoga and Mindfulness sessions at Westminster Community Centre in Ellesmere Port. Mental Health issues in children is on the rise, according to The Mental Health Foundation “10% of children and young people (aged 5-16 years) have a clinically diagnosable mental problem” and yoga has been strongly linked with improving the mental health of not only adults but children too.
The classes ran every Monday in Westminster Children’s Centre, the children enjoyed the practice of yoga through story and song which they rehearsed every week to then perform to their families and friends on Sunday 29th July, see pictures below of the showcase.
We had some great feedback from the parents;
“The relaxation has really helped calm and focus my 2 daughters”
“His behaviour has significantly improved in school and at home”
“My little girls confidence has grown and she has enjoyed making new friends”
Here are some lovely pictures of the yoga sessions in action;
We would like to say a big thank you to Sarah Colquitt (Little Yoga Warriors) and Rebecca Bertram (RB Yoga)who were great instructors during the 12 weeks and to all the parents who brought their little ones over every week!
