March has been an exciting month here at Healthbox CIC, we have been very busy in all parts of the community, running sessions, meeting partners and generally having a great time!
Our Falls Prevention classes have been running successfully, with Jack and Simon our Falls Prevention Exercise Instructors improving the mobility of groups of the elderly in a variety of Extra Care Housing Homes in and around the Cheshire West and Chester area! To see what goes on during these sessions, watch the video below!
Seóna, one of our Public Health Nutritionists ran a great Weaning Wonderful Taster session with two mothers and their little ones at One to One Midwives Ellesmere Port. The session ran perfectly, including a personal introduction into weaning your baby as well as a cookery demo and tasting opportunity. Seóna blended some apricots and banana’s to make a delicious sweet puree that could be blended to any consistency to meet the age of the baby. This was thoroughly enjoyed by the children, as you can see in the image below!
As we are sure you’re aware, Healthbox CIC loves its cookery. This month we delivered parent and child cookery sessions at Whitby Heath Primary School. Our cookery sessions are all designed bespoke to the schools particular desires therefore to coincide with the classroom learning theme we ran a Moroccan themed session. The children created Moroccan cous cous with quorn goujons, mint dip and Moroccan goodness truffles! Here is a picture of the team ready to go below;
Lastly, Sarah our Schools Programme Manager and Jess our Health Promotion Practitioner were kindly invited to the Bright Life Event in celebration of all of their fantastic volunteers at Chester Racecourse. Our smoothie bikes made an appearance as well as some tasty goodness truffles and a cookery demo on how to make them! The recipe for these can be found here. See the images below;
Stay tuned for more updates about what we get up to every month!
